At the time of my recording together with @australianchamberorchestra and @richardtognetti.aco I was playing another cello of the fantastic Venetian school of violin making.
@stevenisserlisv kindly borrowed me his Domenico Montagnana from 1740 at the time. @the_strad_
My current Venetian cello by Matteo Goffriller is only slightly older, dating from 1727 - celebrating its 300th year anniversary soon …

Remembering his words of wisdom. So simple, so true.
I was fortunate to meet Isaac Stern personally in New York, after playing at „his home“ @carnegiehall - back in the year 2000, a year before he passed. He loved young musicians and shared many of his insights and life experiences. Still grateful.

Schumanns immeasurably beautiful Cello Concerto marks the start of my 26/27 season. Tonight in Biel/Bienne🇨🇭at 7:30.
Only months after his 40th birthday, Schumann completed his cello concerto in late October 1850 —which he called a „Concertstück“. He had already planned such a composition in Dresden in 1849.
As a non-cellist, Schumann was venturing into new compositional territory with this work; he was not well-versed in either the playing techniques or the sound of the instrument at first. His wife, Clara, described the concerto as being written „in a way that truly captures the character of the cello.“ A treasure of our repertoire today.

Anne-Sophie Mutter releases the second album in her ASM Forte Forward series on Alpha Classics, American Tunes #1, coinciding with her 50th anniversary concerts at the 2026 Lucerne Festival.
In this second volume of the ASM Forte Forward series, Anne-Sophie Mutter performs works by two composers
close to her heart. First, André Previn (1929–2019), to whom the violinist was married for several years, and with
whom she remained close friends until his death. A jazz pianist, conductor and composer, the multifaceted
talents of this great musician opened up new musical worlds for her. Here she presents his Piano Trio (2009), as
well as his Violin Concerto No. 2, composed in 2010 for solo violin, string orchestra and harpsichord, a nod to
Baroque music and to an instrument that is unusual in contemporary music ensembles.
