“The idea of making this recording is to experience the incredible complexity of Grieg’s music and to explore more of the life of Edvard Grieg through his music.”
With ECHOES OF MY CHILDHOOD, Daniel Müller-Schott has realized his most personal album to date on the ORFEO label, inviting listener into the sound world of the great baroque masters Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Luigi Boccherini, and Francesco Geminiani.
For this recording, Daniel Müller-Schott is joined by two internationally renowned musicians: Irina Zahharenkova (Harpsichord) and Anderson Fiorelli (Cello Continuo). The Neupert harpsichord played here, is exactly the instrument, that has been owned by Daniel’s mother Ulrike Müller-Schott.
A reminiscence that impressive illuminates the musical roots of Daniel Müller-Schott and at the same time opens onto the deeply personal inspiration behind this album, which he describes in his own statement:
„What creates echoes and resonances in our early childhood? Is it the first sound our mother whispers to us? Is it the sound of tones that deeply touches us? In my life, it is the sound of Baroque music on my mother’s harpsichord that repeatedly calls forth childhood memories. The power of music itself can transport us back to this early phase of life. The sonatas on this recording are a sonic testament, played on the very same harpsichord I experienced with my mother in my youth. These sounds mean a great deal to me. And so, it is with this music – it celebrates life while simultaneously acknowledging the transience of every moment. It evokes moments of gratitude, innocent joy, tears born of pure intuition. A kind of inner homecoming to a peaceful place of childhood in our often so noisy world.”

It was an unforgettable moment today, when the legendary Casals Goffriller arrived, which will be loaned to the 1st Prize Winner 🥇 - the instrument Pablo Casals played his entire life, a true companion which portrayed his unique, characteristic sound.
